Scene:1
Fade by Alan Walker plays out of the phone sitting saying 3:30 am on the nightstand by Emri's bed.
Emri rolls around on her bed not realizing how close she is to the edge and falls on the floor with one leg hanging on the side of the bed. Realizing that the alarm is still going she hurries and reaches for the phone to shut

it off before she wakes everyone up. As Emri turns off her phone thinking she saw the time 3:30 am,
she turns on her phone back on and sure enough, the clock reads 3:30 am.

"Dang-it, I set my alarm for the wrong time again." Groaning she gets off the floor and tries to go back
to bed and realizes that it's Sunday and she doesn't have school.

"Wake up Jaybird, It's already 11:00 pm" Shouts Emri's grandma (Diane) from the kitchen as she's

"Time to get up." Says Diane as she pulls the blankets off of Emri and opens the curtains.
"Fine I'm up, I'm up." Surrenders Emri as she gets out of bed, still tired from last night's events.
later that afternoon Emri walks over to her grandpa (Victor), who is sitting on the couch on his phone.
"Can we get another dog, please Grandpa." Pleads Emri
"Umm no. When we move we might get another dog, but not now." Says Victor with a smile on his face.
"Okay so when are we moving?" Questions Emri obviously not willing to give up and already knowing
he doesn't like the dog we already have.

"I don't know. When we get another house. Oh, and I have a job for you tomorrow."
"Really what is it?" Asks Emri curiously.
"You will have to wait and find out tomorrow." Says Victor.
Scene:2 The next day
Victor gets home from work and calls Emri outside to the backyard.
“You said you wanted another dog right?” Says Victor with a hint of laughter in his voice.
“Yeah!”
“Well, I got you something to keep in your room. Come to look.”
Victor leads Emri to the work truck parked on the side of the house and waits for her reaction.
“I’m not keeping that in my room!” Emri shouts when she sees that there is a sheep in the back seat

“He’s so cute, can we keep him, please? Is it a boy or a girl? What it's named? Where are we going to
keep it? Emri questions with curiosity.

“Okay slow down there, one question at a time. It’s a boy and were putting it in the pen when we move out the rabbits.”
“What’s its name?” Emri asks breathlessly.
“You can name it if you want.”
“I’ll name it Emilio Jonas Trujillo. I want it to have the same initials as me.”
“The sad thing is that Emilio has to go tomorrow.” Says Victor.

“What, no!” She shouts, already knowing what Victor means by “has to go.”
“Why can’t we just keep him?” Emri asks.
“We don’t have room for him here and you know we can’t have more animals that we already do.”

“Okay. Bye Emilio, It was good knowing you.” Emri says as she tries not to cry.
Scene: 2 The next day
“But what did he ever do to you!?” Says Emri still trying make her grandpa not kill the sheep.
“He fought with me when I was trying to put him in the back seat.”
“That’s still not enough to make you want to kill it, and I’m not eating it either, so it’s just going to go to
waste.” Emri protests

They all walk outside and tie the sheep’s legs to get ready to butcher it but as victor starts to cut through
the wool he stops.

“The knife isn’t sharp enough.” He says looking at Emri how is continuing to complain about killing the
sheep.
“HA! That’s what you get for trying to kill it. I think this family should have been in the courtroom. sheep.
Were all like the judge, jury, and executioner.”
WOW! That was a REALLY good story you wrote! I really liked the way that you made it quick and interesting all together!! One thing you could fix is the grammar at the beginning I noticed a few small mistakes that could have been edited.... but other than that it was super duper fun to read!!!

ReplyDeleteThat was really good! I really liked how you tied the title to the end of the book, it also had a really good lesson. One thing you could improve on, is your grammar. Otherwise, great job!
