Morning Gone Wrong

A family comedy

 Scene 1

(Ava's mom comes in her room and gently shakes her awake. The alarm clock reads 7:00. It's still dark outside.)
Ava: Ugh.
Jacqui (Ava's Mom): Get up Ava. Time to get ready for school. I'm really late waking you up, so hurry.
(Ava groans again but nods her head to her mom to tell her she is awake.)
(10 minutes later Jacqui comes in again and realizes that Ava went
back to sleep.)
Jacqui: Ava! Get up!
(Jacqui leaves the room as quickly as she had come to finish making breakfast.)
(Ava suddenly jerks awake and falls off the top bunk of her and Georgia's (Ava's older sister) bunk bed.
Ava: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
(She screams as she falls off the top bunk. She falls right on top of her sister. Georgia wakes up right away.)
Georgia: Ahhhh! What the heck are you doing? Are you crazy?!
(As Georgia is screaming the rest of the house wakes up. Layla (Ava's younger sister) and Remington (Ava's younger brother) run into the room. Georgia pushes Ava off of the bed onto the floor and chucks a pillow at her.)
Layla and Remington: Pillow fight!
(They both run to grab the most pillows as the can hold from their room. Ava quickly leaps from the floor and shuts and locks the door. A few seconds later Jacqui comes running up the stairs and takes Layla and Remington downstairs because she knows they will not go back to bed. She then runs up the stairs again and comes pounding on Ava and Georgia's locked door.)
Jacqui: Open the door right now!
(Olivia (Ava's bratty older sister) opens the door Jacqui was pounding on at the same time Georgia opens the door next to it.)
Olivia: What do you want?!
(Jacqui suddenly realizes that she was knocking on the wrong door.)
Jacqui: Sorry. (She turns to Georgia) What happened up here?
(Georgia starts explaining but Ava jumps in and tells her it isn't her fault.)
Olivia: Whatever. I'm going back to bed.
Jacqui: Actually it is time for you to start getting ready for school too.
Olivia: Ughhhhhh! Fine!
(Olivia walks back into her room and slams the door. Ava, Georgia and Olivia all start getting ready for school)

Scene 2

(Jacqui is driving Ava to school. Before they left Ava's digital alarm clock  said 7:35)
Jacqui: Why do you have to sleep on the edge of your bed?
(Ava shrugs)
Ava: It's more comfortable there than in the middle or the other side because my mattress is like a taco.
(As they get out of the neighborhood they both notice that there are no cars and no people walking. It is also darker than usual but they both just think that it is because it is getting closer to fall.)
Ava: Why are there no people?
Jacqui: I don't know.
(As they near the school they both notice their are no cars there either.)
Jacqui: What...?
(Ava looks at the digital clock in her mom's car. It reads 3:42)
Ava: Um....Mom? Your clock says 3:42. Isn't it supposed to be 7:35?
(Jacqui looks at the digital clock. She realizes something.)
Ava: Um...Mom? What is going on?
Jacqui: Crap! The power must have gone off during the night! 3:42 is the real time!
(They drive back to the house and told everyone to go back to sleep. Ava, Olivia, and Georgia reset all the clocks while their mom tries to get Remington and Layla back in bed.)
Olivia: Gosh, Ava. You just had to fall out of bed and wake us all up.
Ava: Hey it's not my fault my mattress is like a taco!
Georgia (aka the peacemaker): Just shut up and get in bed.
(Russel (Ava's dad) comes through the door to garage. (He's a mortician so he goes out at night a lot for work) He walks upstairs and see's everyone just getting back in bed.)
Russel: Wait a minute! Did you all have a night-time party without me?

(End credits start going faster than people can read)

  1. Great job with your writing! Your story was funny, and organized. Maybe next time you could try a little bit bigger font size. Keep working hard!

    1. Thanks Ashlie! I tried using a bigger font but it wouldn't let me. I guess it was just to long. Sorry if you couldn't read it very well. :(

  3. Your story was really good! I liked how you included lots of your family members and gave them a role in the story! Maybe you could have had more of an ending scene or part. But other than that it was really well done!

  4. That was a funny story and I liked it a lot. Maybe next time you could have done a scene of where there is more of an ending to what the ending that you did, but other wise it was a really good.

  5. I really liked this story. It's funny, relatable, and well-formated. I liked the part where the credits go faster than you could read! Maybe next time you should try to use a little more Description, but I loved it!

  6. Hey Ava that was really good story. I like how in a way it was funny but relatable in a way to my life. Maybe next time you could add a bit more, but besides that I really like it.
