Ten IMPORTANT Things to Know and Do in Honors
Language Arts.
#1: Absolutely DO NOT procrastinate.
Yes. I know this is the
number one rule on everyone's list. There is a good reason for that. I am not
typically someone who procrastinates, but I have done it once or twice. Let me
tell you. It was not worth it. I know how you feel though--sometimes hanging
out with friends or watching TV is way more appealing. Make your work your
number one priority. I promise, in the end, you will still have time to hang
out.
#2: Tips on Blog Posts.
This tip goes along with
do not procrastinate. The monthly blog post is a ton of fun, even if writing is
not your favorite pastime. And really, it’s quite easy to get a good grade
(even extra credit!). Here are the secrets to having a successful blog post. Do
it early!! If you complete your blog post in the first week of the month (and
do a quality job) you might get extra credit! Next, do a quality job. Make sure
you follow the instructions too. If Mrs. Robins asks you to write a three
paragraph blog post, make sure it's three paragraphs! Following these simple
instructions will help you succeed with your monthly blog post.
#3: Do the I-read Club.
You
earn membership in the I-read Club by completing a bingo sheet after reading
several different genres of books. Reading so many books may seem intimidating
at first, but it's not too bad if you are consistent. I totally recommend
getting into the I-read club. The end of year party is SO FUN and you get a
t-Shirt and candy!! To qualify, I would recommend doing steady reading, so you
aren't stuck having to read a ton of books in the last month. I-read is a fun
and rewarding way to motivate you to read!
#4: Be Honest.
Although
getting into the I-read club is tons of fun, it's also A LOT of work! Don't lie
about your reading though. Mrs. Robins almost always finds out. Plus, who wants
to feel guilty? I promise if you are honest, school will be easier in the
long run!
#5: Turn your work in on time.
In Honors Language Arts
you get a lot of work (and to be honest it's not that difficult). But, your
grade will drop if you turn your work in late. It is super important to pay
attention to due dates. Turning your work in on time is a good life skill for
middle school, high school, college, and even a job! If you want to maintain an
A grade, turn your work in when it's due!!
#6: Check Powerschool.
Powerschool
is a great resource, so use it! When you check Powerschool, you can make sure
you have a good grade. You can also see what missing assignments you have, so
you can fix them as soon as possible.
#7. Don’t Give Up! Blog posts and writing contest can be kind of scary at first. But don't give up. Writing might not always be what your specialty is, and it may seem like a lot of writing for one school year. All you have to do is work hard and don't give up! The more you write the better you get!
#8: Check your email and the blog.
Mrs.
Robins sends out an email almost every week which contains important
information. You need to read your email! This will help you a lot throughout
the year. Her class blog is also super important to check. Mrs. Robins posts
the new blog assignment at the beginning of every month. You’ll want to get
that done as soon as possible. The blog also has a link to Scope Magazine, so
you can find information on the required writing contests.
#9: Pay attention.
Honors
Language Arts is a class you cannot slack in. I know it's easy to just doze off
into your own world. There is a lot of important information you need to pay
attention to. If you’re in la-la land, you might have a hard time. As long as
you pay attention in class, you will have a great year in Honors Language Arts!
#10: Language Arts is so much fun!
Language Arts is a
blast! Mrs. Robins is incredibly nice and will help you! As long as you stay
caught up on all of your work, language arts will be a piece of cake! Mrs.
Robins always has fun activities planned. One of my favorite things is Mrs.
Robins does is a monthly drawing. Throughout the month you have opportunities
to earn a Robins reward. At the end of the month you can win tons of cool
prizes! As long as you work hard and try your best, you will love Honors
Language Arts and learn a lot too!
Hey Piper! Your Blogpost was amazing! The only thing I would fix is on you 7th reason you might want to make the paragraph not on the same line as the headline. Other than that you did amazing!
ReplyDeleteGood job! I really liked how you related your blog to everybody else's blog. One thing you could maybe work on though is combining some of your sentences so that their not so detached. All in all though, you did amazing!
ReplyDeleteGratblog post! It was amazing, there isn't something I would change that hasn't been told already. So, good job!
