St. Patricks Day History

St. Patrick's day is the day to wear green! If you don't watch out you might get pinched! This holiday first was celebrated 18th and 19th century. Back then St.Patrick's day was not celebrated amongst many Americans, the Irish immigrants and this holiday were scorned by neighbors. The person, as many think started St.Patrick’s actually didn’t it first started out at a religious practice to get more people to join the religion. Saint was also not Irish but ended up in Ireland after being kidnapped and brought there. He soon later escaped and went to France. Still being the religious man he is he went back to Ireland on a mission and there he became a bishop, and soon after his death was named Ireland's Patron Saint. Then when the Irish started to immigrate to America was when the prades and the traditions took like wildfire, and because of that they got much bigger and are know like they are today. That is where we get this exciting holiday from. You wouldn’t think that a holiday of wearing green and leprechauns would have this interesting background/origin story.
